Date duration calculator

Count days between dates, with an inclusive option.

● Processed in your browser

What is this tool?

Count calendar days between two dates for a deadline, trip or planning interval. The page distinguishes elapsed days from an inclusive count. It uses calendar dates rather than measuring hours between precise timestamps.

How to use it

  1. Read the input labels and limits below, then choose the operation that matches your task.
  2. Choose the start and end dates.
  3. Decide whether your task needs both endpoints included and set that option.
  4. Calculate and read the day total and accompanying week breakdown.
  5. Check the result against the worked example or original file before copying, downloading or using it elsewhere.

Worked example

From Monday to Tuesday there is one elapsed day. Counting both Monday and Tuesday as days of attendance gives two inclusive days. The correct interpretation depends on what your form, booking or schedule asks for.

Questions & limits

How it works

Choose a start and end date. Elapsed days exclude the starting date; inclusive days count both dates. Calculations use calendar dates in UTC to avoid daylight-saving-hour changes.

A practical example

January 1 to January 2 is one elapsed day, or two days when counting both dates.

Know the limits

This tool uses Gregorian dates, not the Nepali Bikram Sambat calendar. It does not count business days or public holidays. The end date must not precede the start date.

Documentation updated October 4, 2026.

Does the result include both dates?

By default, the result measures the elapsed gap between the calendar dates. The same start and end date has a zero-day gap. Select the option to include both dates when you need an inclusive count.

Does this count working days only?

No. Weekends and holidays are included. A working-day deadline needs the relevant holiday calendar and rules, which this simple date gap does not apply.

Checking your result

Read the labels before entering a value, especially when switching an operation or unit. Start with a simple example whose answer you already know if you are unsure which mode to use. After changing an input, check that you are reading the new result rather than a value copied earlier. Invalid or incomplete inputs need correcting before the calculation can finish. For a form or deadline with specific rules, follow the destination’s requirements and use this page as a convenient calculation aid.

Features & limits

Counts calendar days between two valid dates. The end date must not precede the start. Choose whether to include both dates. This tool does not subtract weekends or holidays and does not calculate working days.

This tool runs in a modern browser with JavaScript enabled. It processes the values or files you enter on your device. Loading the site still makes hosting requests. The separate contact form sends messages to the administrator; it is not part of tool processing. Keep an original copy and inspect any exported result before relying on it.
