d•dailytoolbox

Online scientific calculator

Everyday maths, powers, roots and trigonometry.

Keyboard supported. Use * for multiplication.

What is this tool?

Evaluate everyday arithmetic and scientific expressions in one place. The input remains visible so you can check what was calculated. It is useful for homework checks, proportions and quick estimates that need parentheses or powers.

How to use it

  1. Read the input labels and limits below, then choose the operation that matches your task.
  2. Enter an expression with explicit multiplication symbols, such as 12 * 4.
  3. Choose the angle mode before using sin, cos or tan.
  4. Select Calculate and review the expression if an error appears.
  5. Check the result against the worked example or original file before copying, downloading or using it elsewhere.

Worked example

The expression (25 + 15) * 2 gives 80, while 25 + 15 * 2 gives 55. Parentheses change which operation happens first. Start with a simple known expression when checking a longer formula.

Questions & limits

Uses normal operator precedence. ^ means power, log means base 10, ln means natural logarithm. Trigonometric functions follow the angle setting. Decimal arithmetic can contain floating-point rounding. Complex numbers are not supported.

How do I enter a calculation?

Type an expression such as (25 + 15) * 2, select degrees or radians for trigonometry, and press Calculate. Use parentheses to make the intended order explicit.

Why does trigonometry give an unexpected result?

A degree input interpreted as radians produces a different answer. Check the angle setting, parentheses and function spelling before changing the numbers. For example, sin(30) in degree mode should return approximately 0.5.

Checking your result

Read the labels before entering a value, especially when switching an operation or unit. Start with a simple example whose answer you already know if you are unsure which mode to use. After changing an input, check that you are reading the new result rather than a value copied earlier. Invalid or incomplete inputs need correcting before the calculation can finish. For a form or deadline with specific rules, follow the destination’s requirements and use this page as a convenient calculation aid.

Features & limits

Supports arithmetic, parentheses, powers, square roots, sin, cos, tan, log, ln, abs, pi and e. Expressions are limited to 500 characters. Use explicit multiplication between terms. Division by zero, invalid real-number domains and undefined tangent values return an error. Floating-point rounding is possible.

This tool runs in a modern browser with JavaScript enabled. It processes the values or files you enter on your device. Loading the site still makes hosting requests. The separate contact form sends messages to the administrator; it is not part of tool processing. Keep an original copy and inspect any exported result before relying on it.
