Frequently asked questions
Is the result a target I must eat?
No. It is an equation estimate. Individual needs and medical circumstances may differ, and a qualified professional can help interpret it when making nutrition decisions.
What can I use calorie calculator for?
Estimate resting energy and an approximate daily maintenance figure from the inputs provided. The page makes the equation and activity assumption visible so you can understand why results change. It does not prescribe a calorie deficit or meal plan.

Can I try a worked example?
Changing the activity factor changes the maintenance estimate even when height, age and weight stay the same. That factor is a rough assumption, not a measurement of movement or exercise on a particular day.
