BS to AD dates: avoid common conversion mistakes

A practical checklist for converting Nepali and Gregorian calendar dates.
Two calendars, one date
Bikram Sambat and Gregorian dates describe calendar days using different year and month systems. A conversion tool is useful when a record is written in one system and a form expects the other. It is not enough to subtract a fixed number of years: month boundaries and day counts must also be handled.
Choose the direction first
Select BS to AD when the original date is Bikram Sambat. Select AD to BS when the source is Gregorian. A four-digit year by itself is not a safe instruction to a converter. Read the label on the original document, then check the direction shown above the input.
Enter year, month and day
DailyToolbox uses YYYY-MM-DD ordering. You can type eight digits without separators and the dashes appear automatically. For example, typing 20830101 produces 2083-01-01 in the input. नेपाली digits are accepted too. This formatting example explains entry order; the converted output depends on the chosen calendar direction.
Understand validation
The converter checks whether the date exists and whether it falls within the supported calendar dataset. A rejected value may contain a mistyped day or be outside the available years. Do not force a result by changing the year until something is accepted. Return to the original document and verify the intended date.
Copy the calendar label too
When recording a converted date, include BS or AD where the destination allows it. Without the calendar label, another reader may misinterpret the year. For an official form, follow that form’s date format exactly. If it requests separate day, month and year fields, copy each component into the matching field.
Separate dates from appointment times
This tool converts dates; it does not schedule appointments across time zones. A meeting time needs a time zone as well as a calendar date. The Today shortcut uses Nepal’s current date, which may differ from a visitor’s local date around midnight.
Verify important records
For certificates, identity documents and other official records, compare the result with an authoritative Nepali calendar or the issuing organization’s requirements. A convenient browser conversion should not replace the original record. Keep the source date so a discrepancy can be traced rather than silently overwriting it.
Try the converter
Open the Nepali date converter to enter a date in either direction. Its on-page notes identify the supported range and calendar library. If you encounter an unsupported date, keep the error message and use an authoritative source for that date instead of estimating.
